Yall, I thought I had lost all digital copies of my old book, The South is Still Rising: Radical and Anarchist Movements in Richmond, VA from 1994-2004. The independent, IWW union print shop I used to publish the first 2 editions is out of business. Thanks to extra time during this quarantine, I have been able to find it!! And the cover artwork my friend Will Gowdy designed for me! So now my book is available on amazon as a paperback and kindle as an ebook. I am not loving amazon, but I do not have another way I can afford to get my book out there into the world at this time. There are hard copies of this and my newer haiku book at Small Friend Books and Records and Chop Suey Books two local Richmond book stores I love.

The South is Still Rising Book
This book was something I researched and wrote as my Div 3 at Hampshire College – basically a senior thesis if you will. It has info on food not bombs, civil rights, critical mass, queer liberation, earth liberation, anti war and other movements in Richmond. Please review and rate if you have read it, and consider buying to help me out if you can
Folks – I need to find a minimum of 4 competitors for this upcoming Haiku event in Richmond. I need 4+ people to commit to coming out, bringing 20-30 pre-written haiku (simply a three line poem, lines containing 5-7-5 syllables) and competing. Who is gonna help me out this next event?? May 17th at 8pm at 123 E. main st. Rva aka Electric Nomad Dance Studio. Possible prizes. Your Haiku can be about anything. Also, if you are interested in sponsoring these events, so we can pay the poets and give them prizes, please hit me up. I am not the main organizer of this event but I love the shit out of it and I am competing against Raven Mack in the Life Match, so I am trying to help. This Southern Gothic Futurism haiku thing brings together people to create a community of cousins, it celebrates storytelling, the south, weirdos and queerdos and all in between. It is legit fun and some of the best laughing I do each month (the event goes down in Cville and Rva check it out) email me at email@example.com for info or to commit
Sweet tea season is
Upon us. Take calorie
Counts – shove em. Southern.
Body aching, cramps
Coming. Missing pregnancy
Prescious smoosh babies
Toddlers covered in
Mud and dirt, digging for worms
Eating up sunshine
Butch like blood stains on
My carhartts. Period on
A jobsite. Bleeder
A nice story in RVA mag about the return of Haiku Battles with Raven Dirtgod Mack to Richmond! Held at Electric Nomad Dance studio!!
I won this first Southern Gothic Futurism Haiku Battle in RVA and earned some much needed gas and grocery money for our family. Raven works hard to get sponsors so artists can be paid.
This is a vital community event. Also please pay artists and writers. I would love to write for money more often!!!
rva mag article on haiku battles
