25 Things I Accomplished in 2013
- Went to Puerto Rico and saw lots of friends and had fun
- Went to Key West with family and got to spend time with Marty and had fun
- Went to the beach with Josh to see my grandparents
- Went camping with Josh and the dogs
- Went to the mountains for my birthday to relax
- Went to Boston for Thanksgiving to meet Josh’s family
- Built a back deck on the house
- Built bee hives and put 2 in my backyard
- Wrote my first poetry zine
- Competed in 2 haiku contests
- Supported multiple friends’ campaigns on kickstarter or other similar websites
- Brought lots and lots of food into the neighborhood for free distribution
- Spent a good amount of time at the river
- Had a good relationship with Mitch that ended on good terms
- Met Josh and have that good relationship still
- Learned a ton of carpentry skills
- Started my own website and started writing more
- Got work fixing old windows and built confidence about my ability
- Got a job as Associate Editor at Quail Bell Magazine
- Volunteered with Earth First! Journal, Started writing for Profane Existence
- Went to the March Against Monsanto, the May Day Parade, the March Against Mass Incarceration, the Halloween Parade, and a bunch of Critical Mass bike rides – spent positive time occupying the streets!
- Bought a bus
- Got rid of a bunch of things that I didn’t need
- Built cat houses and started feeding local cats
- Cooked a lot of Food Not Bombs meals, including catering for the People’s Library, RePHRAME, Trans Day of Rememberance, and the Fast Food Worker’s Strike.
And hugely, met and got to spend time with a lot of very different, very awesome people. I learned from everyone. Sometimes it was a learning what not to do, or what to avoid in the future, but hey, now I know. There were some narrowly avoided dangers and potentially really bad things that got rescued, and for that I am ever thankful. If you were a part of my life in 2013, thank you, I hope your 2014 is one filled with self-care and positive thoughts and community engagement.
100 New Years Goals and Resolutions 2014
A combination of simple tasks, lifestyle changes, and things I need to remember to do. Hold me to it yall!
- Get the Truck fixed and running again
- Get the bus fixed and inspected
- Go to Plan-it-x fest in June in Bloomington
- Plant perennial herbs around the property in the spring
Make a Free Little Library for the front of the houseBuy plexiglass to make door to finish- Do 25 sit ups a day
Make an anarchist literature distribution boxdrill holes to attach string for doors to not fall all the way open, paint- Start volunteering at WRIR regularly again
- Clean out the attic
- Install attic fan
- Finish insulating attic
- Finish flooring attic
- Fix drippy kitchen faucet damnit
- Lift weights once a week
- No sugar in coffee dangit
- Go camping at Panther Falls with Ricky and pals
- Sew real tree ties and sell them
- Make more jewelry to sell
- Table at 3 craft/art events to sell things
- Paint/make window art to sell
- Paint the dining room
- Paint the middle bedroom
- Fix bathroom ceiling
- Clearcoat kitchen trim and stair treads
- Replace ballisters on stairs
- Fence in front yard
- Add more space to bee hives
- Go to 5 craft nights or craft dates with friends
- Spend a week at the beach with grandparents
- Spend a week in the mountains
- Wash all the curtains in the house
- Save up $600 for car insurance by August
- Finish Grits the Origins Book and submit to publishers
- Finish text for 5 Tails of Grits and Flapjack books
- In the Spring have another yard sale and/or sell things at the Azalea Flea Market – sell as much crap as I can manage to let go of
- Finish submission to gun anthology
Finalize call for submissions for Collectives anthology, and mail out to infoshops around the country.- Use mouthwash once a day
- Make an S corp to be self employed and be able to write off my home office
- Go to the farmer’s market at least 10 times
- Eat a fresh fruit smoothie once a week
- Reach an average of 100,000 page views per month on QuailBellMagazine.com by the end of the year.
- Write a minimum of 1 article per week for Quail Bell
- End the Year with zero Credit Card debt.
- Write 1 article for Earth First News Wire
- Clean out the basement
- Read 1 non- fiction book a month
- Take 4 belly dance classes
- Take 4 yoga classes
- get 2 full body massages
- Mail my brother Sam a nice present at some point
- Send 2 postcards to my friends and family
- Take herbal supplements and vitamins every day
- Drink herbal tea once a week
- Drink 32 ounces of water a day
- Listen to WRIR more
- Learn how to sound engineer
- Stop drinking soda unless home-made or fancy for a special event
- Record 5 radio show episodes
- Make a huge batch of pizza dough and freeze
- Go to

- Keep a Positive Mental Attitude
- Make sure my friends know how much I love them
- Write 1 zine
- Spend 30 minutes a day making the Wingnut better
- Make sure the dogs get to go somewhere awesome to run around once a month
- Stop worrying about what people think of you
- Make Wingnut Kid Kits
- Spend less time on social media
- Try something new
- Learn something new- seek out 2 workshops on new subjects
- Submit a column to 3 new publications for consideration
- Visit Los Angeles to see young Samuel and Josh’s family
- Finish that 2,000 piece puzzle that is on the table downstairs
- Read 1 fiction book a month
- Finally cancel that PO Box you never use
- Submit 2 articles to Slingshot
- Design 3 postcards and get them printed
- Clean room out 1 more time.
- Spend 30 minutes a week stretching
- Eat raw for a total of 4 weeks
- Go out to brunch one time
- Pull one all nighter out
- Try 3 new recipes
- Save up to get front fuel tank on the truck repaired
- Make a chess table
- Play board games with friends 10 times
- Go on a 30 mile or more bike ride
- Go bowling 6 times
- Get healthy snacks and candy to eat – less processed junk
- Meditate once a month
- Read 1 book about buddhism
- Read 1 book about wicca
- Go to one of Birch and Freda’s rituals
- Howl at the moon 3 times
- Try to get acupuncture once
- Go to the ob gyn once and get tested etc
- Have one summer barbeque with friends
- Learn 1 song on guitar
