25 Things I Accomplished in 2013

  1. Went to Puerto Rico and saw lots of friends and had fun
  2. Went to Key West with family and got to spend time with Marty and had fun
  3. Went to the beach with Josh to see my grandparents
  4. Went camping with Josh and the dogs
  5. Went to the mountains for my birthday to relax
  6. Went to Boston for Thanksgiving to meet Josh’s family
  7. Built a back deck on the house
  8. Built bee hives and put 2 in my backyard
  9. Wrote my first poetry zine
  10. Competed in 2 haiku contests
  11. Supported multiple friends’ campaigns on kickstarter or other similar websites
  12. Brought lots and lots of food into the neighborhood for free distribution
  13. Spent a good amount of time at the river
  14. Had a good relationship with Mitch that ended on good terms
  15. Met Josh and have that good relationship still
  16. Learned a ton of carpentry skills
  17. Started my own website and started writing more
  18. Got work fixing old windows and built confidence about my ability
  19. Got a job as Associate Editor at Quail Bell Magazine
  20. Volunteered with Earth First! Journal, Started writing for Profane Existence
  21. Went to the March Against Monsanto, the May Day Parade, the March Against Mass Incarceration, the Halloween Parade, and a bunch of Critical Mass bike rides – spent positive time occupying the streets!
  22. Bought a bus
  23. Got rid of a bunch of things that I didn’t need
  24. Built cat houses and started feeding local cats
  25. Cooked a lot of Food Not Bombs meals, including catering for the People’s Library, RePHRAME, Trans Day of Rememberance, and the Fast Food Worker’s Strike.

And hugely, met and got to spend time with a lot of very different, very awesome people. I learned from everyone. Sometimes it was a learning what not to do, or what to avoid in the future, but hey, now I know. There were some narrowly avoided dangers and potentially really bad things that got rescued, and for that I am ever thankful. If you were a part of my life in 2013, thank you, I hope your 2014 is one filled with self-care and positive thoughts and community engagement.

100 New Years Goals and Resolutions 2014

A combination of simple tasks, lifestyle changes, and things I need to remember to do. Hold me to it yall!

  1. Get the Truck fixed and running again
  2. Get the bus fixed and inspected
  3. Go to Plan-it-x fest in June in Bloomington
  4. Plant perennial herbs around the property in the spring
  5. Make a Free Little Library for the front of the house  Buy plexiglass to make door to finish
  6. Do 25 sit ups a day
  7. Make an anarchist literature distribution box  drill holes to attach string for doors to not fall all the way open, paint
  8. Start volunteering at WRIR regularly again
  9. Clean out the attic
  10. Install attic fan
  11. Finish insulating attic
  12. Finish flooring attic
  13. Fix drippy kitchen faucet damnit
  14. Lift weights once a week
  15. No sugar in coffee dangit
  16. Go camping at Panther Falls with Ricky and pals
  17. Sew real tree ties and sell them
  18. Make more jewelry to sell
  19. Table at 3 craft/art events to sell things
  20. Paint/make window art to sell
  21. Paint the dining room
  22. Paint the middle bedroom
  23. Fix bathroom ceiling
  24. Clearcoat kitchen trim and stair treads
  25. Replace ballisters on stairs
  26. Fence in front yard
  27. Add more space to bee hives
  28. Go to 5 craft nights or craft dates with friends
  29. Spend a week at the beach with grandparents
  30. Spend a week in the mountains
  31. Wash all the curtains in the house
  32. Save up $600 for car insurance by August
  33. Finish Grits the Origins Book and submit to publishers
  34. Finish text for 5 Tails of Grits and Flapjack books
  35. In the Spring have another yard sale and/or sell things at the Azalea Flea Market – sell as much crap as I can manage to let go of
  36. Finish submission to gun anthology
  37. Finalize call for submissions for Collectives anthology, and mail out to infoshops around the country.
  38. Use mouthwash once a day
  39. Make an S corp to be self employed and be able to write off my home office
  40. Go to the farmer’s market at least 10 times
  41. Eat a fresh fruit smoothie once a week
  42. Reach an average of 100,000 page views per month on QuailBellMagazine.com by the end of the year.
  43. Write a minimum of 1 article per week for Quail Bell
  44. End the Year with zero Credit Card debt.
  45. Write 1 article for Earth First News Wire
  46. Clean out the basement
  47. Read 1 non- fiction book a month
  48. Take 4 belly dance classes
  49. Take 4 yoga classes
  50. get 2 full body massages
  51. Mail my brother Sam a nice present at some point
  52. Send 2 postcards to my friends and family
  53. Take herbal supplements and vitamins every day
  54. Drink herbal tea once a week
  55. Drink 32 ounces of water a day
  56. Listen to WRIR more
  57. Learn how to sound engineer
  58. Stop drinking soda unless home-made or fancy for a special event
  59. Record 5 radio show episodes
  60. Make a huge batch of pizza dough and freeze
  61. Go to 12   11 City Council Meetings
  62. Go out more
  63. Keep a Positive Mental Attitude
  64. Make sure my friends know how much I love them
  65. Write 1 zine
  66. Spend 30 minutes a day making the Wingnut better
  67. Make sure the dogs get to go somewhere awesome to run around once a month
  68. Stop worrying about what people think of you
  69. Make Wingnut Kid Kits
  70. Spend less time on social media
  71. Try something new
  72. Learn something new- seek out 2 workshops on new subjects
  73. Submit a column to 3 new publications for consideration
  74. Visit Los Angeles to see young Samuel and Josh’s family
  75. Finish that 2,000 piece puzzle that is on the table downstairs
  76. Read 1 fiction book a month
  77. Finally cancel that PO Box you never use
  78. Submit 2 articles to Slingshot
  79. Design 3 postcards and get them printed
  80. Clean room out 1 more time.
  81. Spend 30 minutes a week stretching
  82. Eat raw for a total of 4 weeks
  83. Go out to brunch one time
  84. Pull one all nighter out
  85. Try 3 new recipes
  86. Save up to get front fuel tank on the truck repaired
  87. Make a chess table
  88. Play board games with friends 10 times
  89. Go on a 30 mile or more bike ride
  90. Go bowling 6 times
  91. Get healthy snacks and candy to eat – less processed junk
  92. Meditate once a month
  93. Read 1 book about buddhism
  94. Read 1 book about wicca
  95. Go to one of Birch and Freda’s rituals
  96. Howl at the moon 3 times
  97. Try to get acupuncture once
  98. Go to the ob gyn once and get tested etc
  99. Have one summer barbeque with friends
  100.  Learn 1 song on guitar
